For 20 years Janice and Sue owned Caffe Astoria, a well-known Wellington institution. Hospitality is in their veins, having looked after thousands of customers over the years.
They launched Eating Tokyo in 2017 and now lead tours to Japan throughout the year.
Three years after finishing university Janice abandoned her sensible job as a public servant and looking for adventure, ran away to Japan to teach English in a town in Niigata Prefecture. That year in Japan kick-started a life-long fascination with the country, its people and especially its food.
Sue took her first trip to Tokyo in 2007. She was completely captivated by the city and more importantly the food. With Janice, she has since visited annually, exploring different neighbourhoods and discovering some amazing eating along the way.
